Meet The Team
Meet Lisa Zipken
Kinetic State was founded by Lisa Zipken, a somatic movement educator with an M.F.A. in Theatre Arts and over a decade of experience teaching acting, directing, and movement. During her time as an actor and director, she often wondered why the profound physical and vocal openings cultivated in rehearsal weren’t more accessible outside of the performance space.
Today, through Kinetic State, Lisa offers workshops that blend movement and voice techniques traditionally reserved for actors and dancers, making these transformative practices available to all. She brings these workshops to yoga retreats, performance spaces, movement studios, and businesses, providing unique experiences that inspire creativity, foster connection, and encourage self-expression.
Lisa has led creative programs for all ages, from Shakespeare’s Globe educational initiatives at London’s iconic Globe Theatre to choreographing acclaimed theatre performances in South Florida. By combining her background in physical theatre, her love of yoga, and her expertise in somatic practices, Lisa creates empowering workshops that help participants connect deeply to both their bodies and voices. Her approach offers a rich, holistic experience that invites personal exploration and creative expression.
